About the Role

Duties and Responsibilities: 


  • Work with children (ages 3 to 36 months) in either Nido or Infant Community. 

  • Follow the Montessori philosophy. 

  • Lead parent-teacher conferences. 

  • Work collaboratively with other teachers in the classroom. 

  • Willing to work in an environment that uses four different languages (Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, and English) 

  • Communicate with administration about classroom duties and progress. 


Work Environment: 


  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. 

  • Physically able to work in an environment with low shelves and tables. 

  • Needs to be able to kneel, sit on the floor, sit in low chairs, etc. 

  • Must be able to work with multiple staff and children, under moderate stress levels.

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education. The equivalent in training/experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Must have at least 6 ECE units and be continuing in courses.

  • AMI Assistants to Infancy certification. (AMS certifications will also be considered).

  • A deep understanding of Montessori education.

  • Fluent in Japanese and can communicate in English.

  • Enthusiasm in working in an international school setting and collaborating with young children.

  • First Aid certified is a plus.

  • Ability to work and communicate with colleagues.

  • Simple computer skills or willingness to learn.

  • Attention to detail, organization skills , and problem solving skills are desired.
